Just mentioned to someone here at w--k that I've finally found just how many THINGS I can think about all at once without my head actually, physically exploding. One more friggin thing....
ANYWAY... it's mid-summer here in Seattle, and mind you, Seattle is one of the world's most perfect places to be from July 5 thru late September. However, it's also time we start thinking seriously about our annual Halloween pilgrimage to the Key West Naked Aunts and Uncles Convention. Her Lovliness (Mrs. Surveyor) threw out her hip the other day (seriously) and is on crutches, physical therapy, and oxycodone (Rush Limbaugh's answer to "pot"). We've long had a running joke in our household that I'll keep coming to FF until I have to hire a pair of buxom young things in skimpy nurse's outfits to push my wheelchair down Duval St. Well, I asked Her Lovliness if I needed to find a skimpy "Male Nurse" costume and push HER wheelchair this time. She's on board with that.
Anyway, time for my top ten things I miss about KW and FF....
10. The topless pool at the Pier House, which by-itself almost makes staying there worth the money.
9. Surprisingly good street vendor food. I'm not kidding. This actually makes my top 10.
8. Being able to walk down the middle of the street with a rum punch. (corrolary: waking up the next day, and marveling at how MANY Capt Tony's cups I collected the night before)
7. The Masquerade March.
6. The line to get into Kelly's -- strolling along and seeing the costumes (actually prefer that to going in -- the scene on the street is the best part, IMHO).
5. The startled looks on the faces of the cruise boaters. (If you're a newbie, and haven't been there.... two words may capture the essence... "nipple jewelry".)
4. Mid-afternoon.... "naps". yeah. Let's call it a "nap". LOL. Sometimes, late at night, we even nap a little on the balcony under the moonlight, but don't tell anyone. (We even saw a couple "napping" doggie style on a balcony overlooking the parade year-before-last.)
3. Toga night, plaid night, red night, pirate night, hell... every night.
2. Friday, just when you thought it couldn't get any wilder, people start pouring in for the weekend.
1. Da skimpy lil outfits on da girls!!!! |
