| Some may feel squeamish about eating it, but rabbit has a fan base that grows as cooks discover how easy they are to raise — and how good the meat tastes. |

My SECOND favorite city in the whole world is New Orleans. Sadly, as those of you who know me can attest, I'm a bit of a foodie. My waistline suffers accordingly.
With THAT in mind, few people outside of Louisiana appreciate the difference between CREOLE food and CAJUN food. Completely different cuisines. The most authentic CREOLE restaurant in the French Quarter is Oliviers on Decatur Street. The locals eat there, and the tourists barely know about the place. If it's off-season, you won't have much trouble finding a table. I'd recommend a reservation in high season, though.
They have Creole Rabbit that will turn even a vegitarian into an Elmer Fudd bunny hunter. Seriously.
Food prices aren't that bad there, but they make it up with a wine list that will do real damage to your pocketbook once you find out how good their wine is. |
